[摘要] Culshaw and Crummy (1988), in a report on the engineering geology of the Deeside area, noted that Coal Measures mudstones were considered for use only as fill if there was no alternative and then only for low embankments. The reasons for this are that the weathered clay is too wet and the mudrocks when, disturbed, have a tendency to weather rapidly, swell and settle. However, there were no data in site investigation reports to quantify this effect.
