Link to infection raises hope of preventing child leukaemia
[摘要] Infection is thought to be the leading trigger for childhood leukemia. Researchers from the United Kingdom Childhood Cancer Study agree that exposure to chemicals or radiation are not the principal causes, if at all, of leukemia in children. However, common infections induce the proliferation of white blood cells in bone marrow as part of the normal immune response and in children genetically predisposed to leukemia, might cause an uncrolled proliferation of cellsleading to cancer.
