All in the mind of a mouse

[摘要] Scientists hope that developments in video surveillance and computer technology will aid in the study of psychiatric disorders in mice. This in turn will allow the full power of mouse genetics to be unleashed on the challenging problem of human psychiatric disease. There is little doubt that genes play a major role in psychiatric disorders, but tracking down the genes involved has provendifficult. Mice are especially important as they are much easier to genetically engineer than rats, however, traditionally behavior studies in mice have been considered more difficult as mice become stressed in the presence of humans.
