Bird lovers keep sharp eye on owls
[摘要] A question on whether or not wild animals should be reintroduced into areas where they have become extinct has divided conservationists. A breeding pair of eagle owls have been reintroduced to Britain. Many ornithologists believe that the birds haven't lived in Britain since the last ice-age, 10,000 years ago. The owls are fearsome hunters and experts are worried that the owls might start to kill significant numbers of endangered species, such as black grouse and hen harriers. Other researchers argue that the eagle owls should be protected as native birds.
