Wartime tactic doubles power of scarce bird-flu drug

[摘要] Tamiflu (oseltamivir phosphate) is the main bird flu medicine recommended by WHO. However, eventhough the drug's sole supplier Roche has increased its production capacity, the current supply is just about 2% of the world population. One solution involves administering probenecid in combination, as this can givethe same therapeutic effect at half the dose. However, there seems to be a lack of interest amongst Roche and the relevant authorities in pursuing this approach.
