In defence of data

[摘要] Ralph Cicerone's recent work on climate change earned him a job as the 21st president of the National Academy of Sciences. He is also the head of the National Research Council (NRC), which generates most of the influential reports advising the government on scientific issues. Cicerone will have to learn the difficult task of balancing science and politics in his new job, to ensure the politicians will listen to the science.
