Trial aims to measure social effects of choosing babies' sex
[摘要] Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis allows doctors to determine the sex of an embryo created by assisted reproduction. Couples can then select whether they will have a boy or a girl. This controversial practice, known as social sex selection, has been banned in Britain and Canada because of public concerns that it could lead to discrimination against women. A clinical trial is underway tostudy the effects of social sex selection. It will look at the health of the babies born as well as social factors in the families as the children grow up.
