Formulation of the Order-To-Ship Process Simulation Model

[摘要] The Order-To-Ship (OTS) process consists of activities between the time orders are received and products are shipped. This document provides a problem definition and description of the OTS process for an HP factory. A description of a computer model and the status of the model's implementation is also included. Additionally, we provide a qualitative description of our understanding of and approach to the OTS process. The paper also acts as a reference document for future summaries. We introduce the concept of the general OTS abstraction and show its application as a common component in the representation of the entities and activities we are studying. With this model we expect to examine issues such as how to increase responsiveness to customer orders while reducing levels of Finished Goods Inventory (FGI).
