Measurement of the Angular Displacement of a Platform Mounted on a Flexible Column

[摘要] The work described in this paper arose from the need to control the orientation of a flexibly mounted platform. In the particular application described here it was not acceptable to use a gyroscope to measure the angular displacement of the platform and an alternative technique was required. The method which was developed is based upon a novel application of strain gauges. The method is described and some experimental results are presented and evaluated.
