Quantum efficiency and fission rate in tetracene
[摘要] Using singlet fission in a photovoltaic cell, the theoretical energy conversion efficiency limit is larger than the Shockley-Queisser limit due to two excitons produced with one incident photon. In a singlet fission material, an absorbed photon excites a singlet exciton and then split into two triplet excitons with energy around half of the singlet exciton. Tetracene is a potential candidate for singlet fission photovoltaic cells. Tetracene has triplet exciton energy around 1.2 electron volts (eV), which matches with silicon band gap (1.1 eV). In this study, the quantum efficiency of tetracene devices are measured. Secondly, we will build a kinetic model to calculate the triplet yield rate from magnetic field effect. By modeling and experimental data, we will show that tetracene is an efficient fission material.
