Project 1: “Towards a prophylactic Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) vaccine to prevent EBV -associated malignancies and infectious mononucleosis” and project 2: “Analysing the transcriptional response to histone deacetylase inhibitors treatment in normal and cancer cell lines”

[摘要] The combined thesis submitted for award of the Master of Research in Molecular and Cellular Biology consists of two projects.The first project with the title “towards a prophylactic Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) vaccine to prevent EBV-associated malignancies and infectious mononucleosis” aim was to investigate T cell responses in healthy EBV-seropositive donors to two EBV structural proteins MCP, encoded by BcLF1, and LTP, encoded by BPLF1. The results of first project showed that EBV proteins MCP and LTP are a good vaccine candidates.The second project with the title “analysing the transcriptional response to histone deacetylase inhibitors treatment in normal and cancer cell lines” aim was to analyse the transcriptional response to histone deacetylase inhibitor valproic acid (VPA) treatment in normal and cancer cell lines. The results of second project showed that VPA is not as toxic to normal cells as other chemotherapeutic agents and is a promising candidate for advanced epigenetic chemotherapy.
