The use of a power model to assist the design of an energy harvesting data logger
[摘要] This work shows how the development of a power model for an energy harvesting data logger can be used to predict the energy usage of the hardware as well as significantly contributing to the creation of a business case for a system deployment. The model is also used to demonstrate how investing in power modelling of the hardware can drive overall cost reductions in the design cycle, by reducing prototype costs and maximising design efficiency. This work examines an approach to developing a power model for a specific hardware design and develops a method for determining the feasibility of an operational deployment. Additionally, this work uses the power model developed to create a feedback loop from the model into the iterative hardware and firmware development of the data logger.
