Identifying the Theran wall painters

[摘要] My intention is to identify the individuals responsible for the wall paintings from Akrotiri on Thera. I have considered the paintings within a chronological and geographical framework incorporating the Eastern Mediterranean in the Late Bronze Age. I have deconstructed previous subjective attribution attempts and created my own objective unique methodology incorporating Morellian principles. In doing so I have confidently identified a minimum of ten individuals responsible for the eighteen paintings examined. In addition five of these individuals can be identified in more than one painting. I have argued these individuals were operating within a family unit across several generations and that following the eruption of the volcano on Thera this organisational unit fled and was arguably responsible for the comparable material from Near East and Egypt.
