Loud silence: black women in the academy life histories and narratives

[摘要] “Loud Silence: Life Histories of Black Women in the Academy” analyses the life histories of three Black women faculty at predominantly white institutions. Using Womanist theory as a theoretical framework this project pays particular attention to the ways in which the participants story their lives and make sense of their multiple identities inside and outside the academy. In addition, the project uses their narratives as a foundation to discuss the impact of gender, class, race, ability and sexuality particularly in academia and in society as a whole.
