A geometric screening model for the calculation of ion-molecule electron removal cross sections from atomic contributions

[摘要] We introduce a model that represents ion-molecule net capture and ionization cross sections as weighted sums of atomic cross sections. The weights are determined geometrically by analyzing the overlaps of the atomic cross sections drawn as circular disks around the nuclear centers of the molecule in a plane that is perpendicular to the projectile beam direction.
