Contemporary productions of medieval English drama

[摘要] Thisthesisexamines the ways in which contemporary productions of medieval English theatre have either attempted to recreate perceived original theatrical practices or havesought to distance themselves fromthose practices.As a casestudy, The Annunciation, fromYork's mystery cycle, is thefocus of thework, which includes practice as wellas theory based research. Areas analyzed include: historiography, design, voice/text, actingstyle, and directing style.
