‘The glassworks’ with critical analysis
[摘要] The Glassworks is a play about people being stuck in patterns. Mikael has decided to take up contact with his parents after not seeing them for five years. He brings his son Daniel with him on a visit to his childhood home over Christmas. During the weekend Mikael is trying to come to terms with his childhood and his father, but it turns out to be more complicated than he expects. He returns home without a reconciliation with his father, but with a better relationship to his son. In my analysis I have looked at different aspects of the writing process. I have studied how one can build the plot based on characters, as well as looked into how naturalism and symbolism can be combined, and what problems arise. I have critically looked at my decisions regarding setting. I analysed how you can work with the room to support actions, as well as decisions about social context, raising the question how you can set a play in Sweden and write it in English.
