Airflow testing of aero-engine components
[摘要] The purpose of this research is to understand the principle of Doncasters Aerospace Components (DAC) test rig, which is used to test the airflow of aero-engine components after production. The principle of the test rig was initially investigated by performing experiments on the test rig to enhance the understanding on the method the test rig operates. From the experiments, relevant data is collected to create a model which is similar to the principle of DAC test rig in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). In CFD, the model is capable to simulate the flow in the test rig and with this information; the principle of the test rig can be tested whether or not the test rig is performing at its best state. With the understanding of the principle and techniques used in the airflow testing of aero-engine components at the earliest possible stage in order to reduce the test cycle time without disturbing the accuracy of the results and identify possible mistakes that will create any conflicts in the design and testing process before production.
