Surface Functionalization of Multiwalled Carbon Nanotube with Trifluorophenyl
[摘要] A new approach to dispersion of multiwalled carbon nanotube (MWNT)in common polar solvents was reported. Here, a detailed study ofnanotube chemistry by using trifluorophenyl (TFP) to modify thesurface of MWNT was discussed, which was not reported before. Acharacterization of the reaction products using a variety oftechniques was provided. The results confirmed that the surface ofMWNT was successfully functionalized. Furthermore, trifluorophenylmultiwalled carbon nanotube (TFP-MWNT) was well dispersed in polarsolvents, such as tetrahydrofuran (THF), acetic acid (Ac),N,N-dimethyl formamide (DMF), dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), due tothe adsorption of trifluorophenyl groups on the surface of rawMWNT. Following chemical modification, dispersed individualnanotube suggests the potentials for wide applications.
