High resolution radar for automobile applications

[摘要] This contribution points out the potential of radarsensors with high resolution in azimuth and range in trafficenvironment and addresses some aspects of their practicalimplementation with respect to system design, hardwareand software. A prototypical vehicle-based instrumentationradar is presented, which performs on-line acquisition andreal-time visualisation of radar images with an update rate ofup to 10 Hz. The enhanced perception capabilities of highresolution radar in traffic environment will be demonstratedwith respect to new comfort and safety features, and practicalrealisation approaches concerning data processing and hardwareincluding the scanning antenna will be discussed.
