Common mode chokes and optimisation aspects

[摘要] Due to the increasing electrification of modern aircraft, as a result of theMore Electric Aircraft concept, new strategies and approaches are required tofulfil the strict EMC aircraft standards (DO-160/ED-14–Sec. 20). Common modechokes are a key component of electromagnetic filters and often oversizedbecause of the unknown impedance of the surrounding power electronic system.This oversizing results in an increase of weight and volume. It has to beavoided as far as possible for mobile applications. In this context, anadvanced method is presented to measure these impedances under operatingconditions. Furthermore, the different parameters of the inductance design isexplained and an optimisation for weight and volume is introduced.
