Dead time optimization method for power converter

[摘要] This paper introduces a method for dead time optimization in variable speedmotor drive systems. The aim of this method is to reduce the conduction timeof the freewheeling diode to a minimum without generation of crossconduction. This results in lower losses, improved EMC, and lessovershooting of the phase voltage. The principle of the method is to detectbeginning cross currents without adding additional components in the halfbridge like resistors or inductances. Only the wave shape of the phasevoltage needs to be monitored during switching. This is illustrated by anapplication of the method to a real power converter.
