Indigene Völker und Landrechte : ein Überblick

[摘要] The paper focuses on indigenous peoples, theirpresent Situation and prospects for the future. Whileemphasizing the cultural heterogeneity of indigenous peoples worldwide, the paper at the same timeStresses certain basic similarities especially asconcerns their relation with land. It argues that inorder for indigenous cultures to regain control oftheir own future, necessary recognition of theirspecial rights to land as well as acceptance of someform of self-determination is mandatory. The ongoingwork on securing these rights by indigenousand non-indigenous NGO's and within the UN andILO is discussed. It is argued that this work on indigenous human rights must continue and that increasedinternational concern is necessary in order to secureto indigenous peoples their basic and necessaryhuman rights.
