Regional impacts of environmental and global change : water use in the Valais

[摘要] This paper provides a brief overview of water resourcesin the Alps from an economic, social and historicalpoint of view. Based on these considerations, the paperlooks into the future use of water under conditions ofchanging climate and a liberalization of economic markets. A particular focus here is the liberalization of theelectricity sector in Switzerland. The examples givenhere provide material to reflect upon the potential conflictingand convergent issues linking globalization andglobal change.
