Bergsturz Amden 1974
[摘要] On January 21, 1974, a land slide occurred nearAmden in the Canton of St. Gall in Switzerland. Thisslide is of considerable scientific interest because ithad been threatening for some time so that theauthorities had arranged for measurements to bemade. Thus, creep-curves for the slide during thepreparation period are available. These could becompared with the daily rain rates for the nearbymeteorological Station at Weesen. It was found that inthe initial "slow" phase of the slide, the movementswere mainly a response to the rainfall; the delay timebetween the slide velocity and the rain was 12 days. Finally in January, 1974, however, the movementbecame exponential which indicated the occurrenceof a progressive failure. In addition, dynamic studieshave been made in the region: The slide conformsexactly to the general prediction curve and its buildupfits entirely into the local geotectonic stress pattern.
