Multi-nutrient blocks (MUB) as supplement for milking cows fed forages of low nutritive value in south Vietnam

[摘要] TwoexperimentswerecarriedoutatAnPhuocstatefarmandonprivatesmallfarmstodetermineanimalresponse,farmeracceptanceandbenefitsofsupplementingMUBtocrossbredHolsteincows.Experiment1:On3smallfarms,sevenmilkingcowsfedricestraw,nativegrassesandconcentrateweresupplementedwith1kgMUB(5%urea)during40days.Milkyieldandmilkfatcontent(beforeandaftersupplementation)were7.17kg/d,3.4%and8.17kg/dand3.9%respectively.Experiment2:Tencowsweredividedintwogroups:controlfedlowqualitygrassandcropby-productsandconcentrate(asbasaldiet);experimentgroupfedbasaldietplus1kgMUB(10%urea)/d.Theexperimentlasted140days.Milkyield,adjustedbycovarianceforyieldpriortostartingthetrialwas(kg/d):6.257and7.203(SEmean±0.069)forthecontrolandMUBsupplementedanimals.
