The effects of urea-mineral lick blocks on the liveweight gain of local yellow cattle and goats in grazing conditions
[摘要] Aurea-minerallickblockwithoutmolasses(ULB)wasmanufacturedasafeedsupplementforlocalcattleandgoats.Thistypeoflickblockwasofacceptablehardnessandwaseasilytransportedandofferedtotheanimals.Twofeedingtrials,onewithlocalyellowcattleandonewithlocalgoats,wereconductedtocomparetheperformanceofanimalsgrazedonnaturalunimprovedhillpasturewithorwithoutULB.Cattlewithaccesstoblockshaddailygainof370g/dayandweresignificantlybetterthanthecontrolsat203g/day.Theliveweightgainofgoatswithaccesstoblockswasalsosignificantlyhigher(Plt;0.05)thanthosewithoutblocks(95vs.73g/day).ThebodyconditionofcattleandgoatswasimprovedbyULBfeeding.Itisconcludedthatureaandmineralslickblocksevenwithoutmolassescanbeusedtoimprovetheproductiveperformanceoflocalruminantsofferedlowqualityroughages.
