Biomass production of some leguminous shrubs and trees in Vietnam
[摘要] Sevenspeciesoflegumetreesandshrubs:Gliricidiasepium,Leucaenaleucocephala,Indigoferateysamii,Acaciamangium,Acaciaauriculiformis,Flemingiacongesta,andDesmodiumransoniiwereplantedaccordingtoarandomizedcompleteblockdesignonthepodzolsoiloftheUniversityexperimentalfarmatThuDuc,HoChiMinhcity.FlemingiaandDesmodiumwereplantedbyseed;theotherspeciesweretransplantedbyseedlings.Fivetonnes/haofgoatmanureandcropresidueswereappliedinpitsbeforeplanting;60kgP2O5and40kgK2O/haofchemicalfertilizerswereappliedeachyear.Onetimeweedingwasdonetwomonthsafterplanting.Ediblepartsofthesespecieswereusedinanintaketrialwithagroupofyounggoats.Theresultsofthreeharvestsinatotalperiodofsixteenmonthsafterplantingindicated:(i)forbiomassproductioninpoorsoil,Indigoferateysamii,GliricidiasepiumandtheAcaciasppwerehighestinranking;(ii)Gliricidiasepium,Indigoferateysamiiwerethebestchoiceinfodderproductionforgoats.TheleavesoftheAcaciaspp,althoughwithalowdigestibility,stillplayanimportantroleinsolvingtheshortageofgrassonpoorsoilsandinadryzone.
