Effect of supplementing rice straw with urea and glyricidia forage on intake and digestibility by sheep
[摘要] Intwolatinsquaredesigns,foursheepweregiveneitherunsupplementedricestraworricestrawsupplementedwith20g/kgofurea.Withineachlatinsquarefourtreatmentswereimposedwithfourlevelsofglyricidiaforagesupplementationtoprovideeither0,50,150or300g/kgofthestraw.Ricestrawintakeincreasedwithincreasingsupplementationofglyricidiaforage.Withuntreatedstrawthedailyintakesofstrawwere412,467,504and498g/dandwithurea-treatedstrawtheintakeswere463,482,507and510g/dforthefourlevelsofglyricidiasupplementationrespectively.Itispostulatedthatfortheuntreatedstraw,glyricidiaprovidedbothlimitingN,easilyfermentablefibreandbypassproteinwhilewiththeurea-supplementedstrawtheresponseswereduetoeasilyfermentablefibreandbypassprotein.
