[摘要] TwogroupsoffemaleAfricanHairsheepandtheirlambswerefedabasaldietofsugarcanetops(adlibitum)andfoliageofGliricidiasepium(restrictedto3kgfreshmatter/100kgliveweight)inconditionsofconfinementonearthfloorwithbuilt-uplitteroffeedresidues.Oneofthegroupsreceivedamulti-nutritionalblock(10%urea,50%molasses)adlibitum.Aramwasrotatedat12hourintervalsbetweenthetwogroups.Afterthesecondweekpost-partum,milksamplesweetakentwiceweeklyfordeterminationofprogesterone.Thedamswereweighedatparturitionandatweaning;thelambswereweighedatbirthandat40,80and120days(weaning).Rumensamplesweretakenbystomachtubeonceortwiceweekly.Dailyfeedintakewasalsomeasuredontwooccasionsperweek.Theewesthatreceivedtheblockinitiatedovarianactivitysooner,andhadashorterintervalquot;parturition-conceptionquot;,thantheunsupplementedewes.Thesupplementedeweshadahigherfeedintakeandhigherconcentrationsofrumenammoniathanthosenotsupplemented.Provisionofthemulti-nutritionalblockdrasticallyreducedthemortalityinbothewesandlambs.
