The potential of rabbit meat marketing in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso
[摘要] ThedemandforrabbitmeatwasassessedbyconsumerandbreederinterviewsinBobo-Dioulasso,BurkinaFasobetween1985and1987.118householdswereinterviewedabouttheirhouseholdsize,dailybudgetandconsumptionhabits.Theaveragehouseholdsizewas10.9persons.TotaldailybudgetwasFCFA776(FCFA50=FF1)ofwhichFCFA358werespentformeat.Poultryrankedhighestinmeatpreference,followedbymuttonandbeef,correspondingtothesocialsignificanceofthespecies.However,duetothelimitedbudget,householdsmostlyboughtbeef,driedfishormutton.Consumerdemandforrabbitmeatwaslow.ConsumerswhoknewrabbitmeatwerereadytospendFCFA1,160forananimalofabout2kgliveweight.ThosewhohadnevertriedrabbitmeatwouldnotspendmorethanFCFA700peranimal,whichequalsthepriceofonechicken.
