[摘要] Increasedawarenessofthehighpotentialofmeatrabbitproductiontomakeapositiveimpactonthelivesoftheworld'smajorityofsubsistence,limited-resourceruralandperi-urbaninhabitants,hascontributedtotherecentdevelopmentofnumerousnationalrabbitprograms.Whilethistrendisencouraging,itismostimperativethattherabbitprojectcomplementsthetraditionaland/orsociologicalvaluesofthelocalpopulationandisproperlyintroducedfollowingcarefulplanninganddesignconsiderations.Inmanyinstancesarabbitmeatmarketresearchand/orfeasibilityassessmentmaybewarranted.Descriptiveproductionandsurveydataareurgentlyneededfromdevelopingcountries.Extensionmethodologiesrelevanttorabbitprojectdevelopmentaregenerallylackingandareparamounttorabbitprojectsuccess.Inaddition,appliedresearchconductedindevelopingcountriesonallaspectsofrabbitproduction--breedingandgenetics,diseasecontrol,economics,housingsystems,management,nutritionandreproduction--isneededtobeabletomakesoundgeneralorlocallyspecificrecommendations.
