INFLUENCE OF SOIL pH ON SURFACE CHARGE AND WATER TRANSMISSION
[摘要] TheeffectsofpHweredeterminedontheexchangeableNaandelectrophoreticmobilityofNa-saturatedbentonitefromGreybull,Wyoming,andNa-saturatedLethbridgeloamandonthewatertransmissionoftheLethbridgeloam.Thedataobtainedwererelatedtoproblemsofreclaiminganalkaline-sodicsoil.TheexchangeableNaofthebentoniteandtheloamincreasedabout50%frompH6.0to8.0,buttherateofchangewithpHwasnotthesameforboth.Theelectrophoreticmobilityoftheloamincreased284%frompH6.0to8.0,whilethatofthebentoniteincreased53%.ThewatertransmissionoftheloamatpH6.5and7.0wasseventimesandtwice,respectively,thatatpH8.0.ItwasconcludedthatloweringthepHofanalkaline-sodicsoilmaybeaneffectivemeansofenhancingitsreclamation.
