NUTRIENT AVAILABILITY TO BARLEY IN SOME GREY WOODED TOPSOILS OF THE PEACE RIVER REGION
[摘要] GreenhousetestswithOllibarleyonthreeGreyWoodedtopsoils(0–6inches)andsubsoils(6–12inchesand12–18inches)showeddrymatterincreasesfromapplicationsofnitrogen,phosphorusandcalciumhydroxide,butnotfromapplicationsofpotassiumorsulphur.Forallthreesoils,thenitrogenapplicationgavelargeyieldincreasesontopsoilsandsubsoilssampledfrombothvirginandcultivatedareas.Thephosphorusapplicationgavemoderateincreasesontopsoilsandmarkedincreasesonsubsoils.Phosphorusgavegreaterincreasesthannitrogenonsubsoils.Onthetwoacidicsoils,responsetocalciumhydroxidewassimilartophosphorusonthetopsoilbutmuchlessthantoeithernitrogenorphosphorusonthesubsoil.Noappreciabledifferenceinresponseoccurredfromanytreatmentbetweenthe6–12-and12–18-inchsoildepths.Acomparisonofgreenhousetofieldtestsshowedthatresponsetonitrogenwasgreaterinthegreenhousethaninthefieldbutthatresponsetophosphorusandlimewassimilar.
