THE LIMING OF DIKELAND SOILS
[摘要] Inagreenhousestudydolomiticandcalciticlimestonewereappliedatratesof0,2,4,6and8tonsperacretothreesamplesofdikelandsoilrepresentativeofsurfacesoil,sub-soilandamixtureofthetwo.Thetwokindsoflimestonewereequallyeffectiveinincreasingcropyieldsandtherewerenosignificantyielddifferenceswithdifferentsoils,whenlimedattheappropriaterate.Increasesinyieldduetolimingwerehighlysignificant,butsignificanceoftheyieldincreasesforsuccessiveincreasesinrateoflimingvariedwithdifferentcrops.Theincreasesingrainandcloveryieldsabovethe6-tonratewere,ontheaverage,smallandnotsignificant.WheredolomiticlimestonewasappliedtheCa:Mgratioremainedapproximately1:1inallsoils.TheapplicationofcalciticlimestoneresultedinaCa:Mgratiorangingfrom2:1forthe2-tonrateto5:1forthe8-tonrate,butthiswiderangedidnothaveanyapparenteffectoncropyieldinthisexperiment.
