THE FORMS OF NITROGEN IN THE ORGANIC MATTER OF DIFFERENT HORIZONS OF SOIL PROFILES
[摘要] Astudywasmadeoftheamountofamide-N(asglutamineandasparagine)insoilmaterialsbymethylatingtheorganicmaterialwithmethanolic-HCl,reducingtheresultingproductwithLiBH4anddeterminingthelossofglutamicandasparticacids.Thedataobtainedlendsupporttothehypothesisthatapercentageoftheammonia-Nformedonacidhydrolysis,equalornearlyequaltothesumoftheglutamicacid-N+theasparticacid-N,isderivedfromglutamineandasparagine.Anattempttouseothermethodstodeterminetheamountofamide-Ninsoilmaterialsindicatedthatthesemethodswouldnot,ingeneral,bereliable,althoughtheymightgiveacceptableresultswhenthedegreeofdecompositionoftheorganicmaterialswasnottoogreat(e.g.,intheA00orA0horizons).
