THE PENETRATION OF RADIOACTIVE SUPERPHOSPHATE INTO A PODZOL SOIL
[摘要] Thepenetrationintothesoilofphosphorus,appliedassuperphosphate,wasdeterminedundervariousconditionsinafieldexperimentonCornwallissand.MonocalciumphosphatecontainingP32wasthoroughlyincorporatedinthesurfaceinch,andtheactivitywaslaterdeterminedin1-inchsegmentsofcoresamples.Movementdownwardofappliedphosphoruswasveryslightinspiteofthecoarsetextureofthissoil.In2weeksanaverageof5.2percentwaslocatedinthe2–6inchzoneandonly8.5percenthadreachedthisdepthin4weeks.Applicationof2inchesofwaterperweek(rainfallplusirrigation)producednosignificantdifferencefrom1inchperweek.NeitheradjustmentofpHlevelswithdolomiticlimestone,norincreasingtheorganicmatterlevelswithanthraxylate(a.humus-likematerialpreparedfromcoal)hadanysignificanteffectonphosphorusmigration.Therewassomeevidencethatincreasedratesofsuperphosphateresultedingreaterpenetrationofphosphorusbuttheeffectwasnotstatisti...
