QUANTITATIVE MANOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF CALCITE AND DOLOMITE IN SOILS AND LIMESTONES
[摘要] Thedeterminationisbasedonthedifferenceinratesofsolutionofcalciteanddolomite.TheCO2evolvedfromreactionofamixtureofcalciteanddolomiteinexcessHClismeasuredatfrequentintervalsuntilthereactioniscompleted.ThelogarithmoftheamountofCO2equivalenttounreactedcarbonateisplottedagainsttime.Followingtherapidandcompletesolutionofcalcite,thecurvefordolomiteassumesamuchsmallerslopeandislinearforaperiodoftime.ExtrapolationofthislinearportionofthecurvetozerotimegivestheamountofCO2equivalenttothedolomiteinitiallypresent.TheCO2fromcalciteisobtainedbydifferencefromthetotalCO2.Theamountsofcalciteanddolomitefoundinanumberofpreparedmixturesbythisinterceptmethodwereingoodagreementwiththeamountsknowntobepresent.SeveralsamplesoflimestoneandcalcareoussoilwereanalysedbytheproposedmethodandtheresultswerecomparedwithX-raydiffractionandchemicaldata.
