[摘要] AmineralogicalstudyofthefinesandfractionofunweatheredtillsandstratifiedsandschosentorepresentthedepositsofthemajoricelobesofsouthernOntariowascarriedout.Inaddition,afewanalysesweremadeofthecoarsesiltandcoarsersands.Ingeneraltherewasthesamevarietyofmineralsinallsamplesandtheyvariedonlyintheirproportions.TillsoverlyingPalaeozoicbedrockcontainedabundantcarbonatesandshalefragmentsconstitutingupto70percentofsomefinesands.Inthecoarsesands,carbonatesandshaleincreasedsharply.Inthecoarsesiltandfinesand,feldsparsweremoreabundantthanquartzwhereasinthemediumandcoarsesandthereversewastrue.Quartzincreasedinquantitywithincreasinggrainsizeandreachedamaximuminthemediumsand.Heavymineralsusuallyconstitutedlessthan15percentofthefinesand.Someofthemineralspresentinthecoarsesiltandfinesandwerenotfoundinthecoarsersands.Usuallytheorderofabundanceoftheheavyminera...
