RELATIONSHIP OF NITRATE ACCUMULATION TO YIELD RESPONSE OF WHEAT IN SOME SASKATCHEWAN SOILS
[摘要] ThecapacityofSaskatchewansoilstoaccumulatenitrate,asdeterminedbyalaboratoryprocedure,wasinvestigatedasamethodforevaluatingtheresponseofwheattonitrogenousfertilizers.Thecorrelationcoefficientbetweenthefieldyieldratios(whichareameasureoftheresponsetonitrogen)andnitrateaccumulationfor31stubblefieldswas0.846**andfor30fallow-soilswas0.830**.Greenhouseexperimentswithsoilsamplesfrom31stubblefieldsshowedahighcorrelation(0.874**)betweennitrateaccumulationandnitrogenuptakebywheatplantsduringa30-daygrowthperiod.Itisconsideredthatasignificantincreasefromtheapplicationofnitrogenousfertilizerscanbeexpectedwhenthenitrateaccumulationvalueisbelow50 p.p.m.Ninsoilfromstubblefieldsor40 p.p.m.Ninfallowedsoils.
