THE EFFECT OF NITROGEN FORM AND SOIL TEMPERATURE ON THE GROWTH AND PHOSPHORUS UPTAKE OF CORN PLANTS GROWN IN THE GREENHOUSE
[摘要] Inagreenhouseexperiment,cornseedlingsweregrownovera2-weekperiodinsoilandinsand-resinmedia.Nitrateandammoniumnitrogenwasappliedatratesfrom25to800 p.p.m.,andphosphorusat50and200 p.p.m.Soiltemperaturesof60°,70°,and80°F.wereused.Itwasconcludedthatgrowthandphosphorusuptakereachedamaximumwhenapproximately200 p.p.mnitrogenwasapplied.Totaldrymatterproductioninrootswasinverselyrelatedtonitrogenapplication,andtototalphosphorusuptake.Insoil,theammoniumformofnitrogentendedtobemoreeffectivethanthenitrateforminincreasingphosphorusuptake.Insand-resinwithanabsenceofnitrification,theoppositewasfound.Significantinteractionswerefoundbetweennitrogenrateandform.Increasingsoiltemperaturefrom60°to80°F.enhancedtheeffectofnitrogenonphosphorusuptake.
