THE EFFECT OF DRAINAGE CONDITION ON THE REDOX POTENTIAL, LEACHATE COMPOSITION AND MORPHOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF A SOIL PARENT MATERIAL STUDIED IN THE LABORATORY
[摘要] Plasticcolumnscontainingacalcareousclayloamsoilparentmaterialwithandwithoutgroundaspenleavesatthesurfaceweremaintainedunderdifferentdrainageconditionsfor32months.Distilledwaterwasaddedatregularintervals.Resultsofredoxpotential(Eh)measurementsatfourdepths,leachateanalysisandanalysisofthesoilmaterialarepresented.Withwatertabletothesurfaceandalayerofsurfaceleaves,lowEhreadingsandappreciableironmovementresulted.Inacolumnwithfluctuatingwatertableandsurfaceleaves,raisingthewatertablebroughtaboutadecreaseintheEhofthesoilbelowthewatertable.HeightofwatertablehadnoeffectontheEhofacolumnwhichhadnoleavesatthesurface.Incolumnswherethesoilmaterialwasmixedwithquartzsand,leachingbroughtaboutmarkeddownwardmovementofsiltandclaysizeparticles.Apartfromtheremovalofsolublesalts,therewaslittlemeasurablechangeincolumnswhichhadnoadmixtureofsand.
