THE INFLUENCE OF SOIL TEMPERATURE ON THE GROWTH AND MINERAL COMPOSITION OF OATS
[摘要] Oatsgrownwithdifferentnutrienttreatmentsintemperature-controlledsoilinthegreenhouseproducedhigheryieldsofgrainandstrawwhensoiltemperaturewasincreasedfrom41°to67°F.Yieldswereusuallylessat80°F.thanat41°F.Thisrelationshipbetweengrowthandsoiltemperaturewasalsoapparentattheheadingstage.At7thleaf,however,thebesttemperatureforgrowthvariedwithnutrienttreatment.Rootyieldsusuallydecreasedwithincreaseinsoiltemperature.Increasingsoiltemperaturefrom41°to67°F.increaseduptakeofN,PandK.InmanyinstancesincreasesintheconcentrationofN,PandKintheplantcontributedtotheseincreasesinuptake.TheeffectofsoiltemperatureonuptakewasmoreconsistentforPthanforotherelements.Nitratesandnativephosphorusinincubatedsoilsamplesincreasedwithincreaseintemperaturefrom41°to80°F.butexchangeableKvalueswerenotaffected.
