Architectural analysis of Buxus vahlii Baill. (Buxaceae) in two different environments in Puerto Rico

[摘要] TheanalysisofthearchitectureofBuxusvahliiBaill.(Buxaceae)inwesternPuertoRicoispresented.Twopopulationsgrowingindifferentenvironmentalconditionswerestudied:oneisacoastalforestinthemunicipalityofRincónandtheotherisamountainforestwithkarsticformationsinthemunicipalityofIsabela.ThegrowthpatterninBuxusvahliifollowsChampagnat'smodel.Fourstagesofdevelopmentwereidentified:seedling,juveniletree,maturetreeandsenescenttree.Thestemandbranchesofthetreearesympodiallybuiltbythesuperpositionofmixedorthotropicaxes.TwodifferentcrownshapeshavebeenrecordedinB.vahliiinPuertoRico:intheRincónforest,theshapeislaminar,whileinIsabela,itisin-betweenafunnelandcupshape.
