Survey of the Menispermaceae endocarps
[摘要] Menispermaceaeendocarpswereverymuchusedforlongintheclassificationofthisfamily.Thisorganalsopresentsadefinitepalaeobotanicalinterestasitisoftenpresentinfossilstate.ThelackofadetailedknowledgeontheendocarpsofextantMenispermaceaelimitstheidentificationofthosefossils.Thepresentpapertriestofillthislack,describingendocarpsof116speciesbelongingto55differentgenera.ThewholeMenispermaceaefamilyhasdrupaceousfruits,butthereisanimportantmorphologicaldiversityoftheendocarps,thedifferencesbetweenaffiliatedspeciesbeingsometimesveryslight.However,thecomparisonswithmolecularphylogeniesshowthatthedifferencesbetweenendocarpshaveaphylogeneticsignificance,tosomeextent.Menispermaceaeendocarpsarestraightorunderwentanoftenimportantcurvatureduringtheirdevelopment.Almostalloftheseendocarpsshowapeculiarstructureknownasacondyle,whichcanhavedifferentaspects.Somecharacters,suchastheendospermstructureandthestylescarpositiononthepericarp,dependofendocarpcharacters,atleastpartiallyandwithafewexceptions.Hypothesesonendocarpadaptationarelimitedbythelackofknowledgeontheseeddispersalofthisfamily.Akeyofthestudiedgeneraisproposed.
