Octavia sessiliflora DC. and Mussaenda glomerulata Lam. ex Poir., two obscure taxa from French Guiana synonymous with members of the Alibertia group (Rubiaceae, Gardenieae)

[摘要] DuringtheprocessofcompletingtheRubiaceaeJuss.treatmentfortheFloraoftheGuianas,twolittle-knowntaxadescribedfrommaterialcollectedinFrenchGuiana,MussaendaglomerulataLam.exPoir.andOctaviasessilifloraDC,neededtobestudiedinordertoestablishtheirtrueidentity.MussaendaglomerulatawasfirststudiedbyLamarckandlaterpublishedbyPoiret(1797),basedonspecimenscollectedbyL.C.Richard;aspecimenofM.glomerulatawasfoundintheLamarckherbarium,whichishereselectedaslectotype.MussaendaglomerulatawasconcludedtobesynonymouswithAmaiouacorymbosaKunth.BecauseM.glomerulatahaspriorityoverAmaiouacorymbosa,thenewcombinationAmaiouaglomerulata(Lam.exPoir.)Delpreteamp;C.Persson,comb.nov.ishereproposed.TheobscureOctaviaDC.waspublishedbyCandollebasedonspecimenswithovariesandfruits.Afteradetailedanalysisofthetypespecimens,weinferredthattheflowersofOctaviaarealwaysterminal,althoughsometimestheymightappearaxillarybecauseofovertoppingaxillaryshoots(pseudoaxillary).Additionally,whatCandolleinterpretedas8-merousfruitsisamisinterpretation,andtheyareinsteadfleshyberrieswitheightseeds.Withthesenewobservationsinmind,weconcludedthatOctaviasessilifloraissynonymouswithCordieratrifloraA.RichinDC.Fullsynonymy,typificationofthetaxainvolvedandrepresentativespecimensofthisspeciesareherepresented.
