Grewia hispidissima Wahlert, Phillipson & Mabb., sp. nov. (Malvaceae, Grewioideae): a new species of restricted range from northwestern Madagascar

[摘要] AnewspeciesofGrewiaL.endemictotheSambiranophytogeographicregionofnorthwesternMadagascarisdescribed.SpecimensofthisspecieswereannotatedbyRenéCapuronover40yearsagoas“Grewiahispidissima”,whichheevidentlybelievedrepresentedaspeciesnewtoscience,butthenamehasnotbeenvalidlypublished.OurtaxonomicworkonthegenusinMadagascar,includingacarefulstudyofCapuron'sannotatedspecimensandawealthofnewmaterial,hasconfirmedthatthisplantdeservesrecognitionatthespecieslevel.AsuiteofcharactersclearlydistinguishesGrewiahispidissimaWahlert,Phillipsonamp;Mabb.,sp.nov.fromallotherspeciesinMadagascar,includingitslargeacuminateleavesandthemixofsimpleandstellateferruginoustrichomesthatdenselycoveritsstems,petioles,inflorescenceaxes,pedicelsandsepals.Illustrations,adistributionmap,andapreliminaryconservationassessmentusingtheIUCNRedListcriteriaareprovidedforthenewspecies.
