Epithelial cell migration in the intestine of the young mouse☆
[摘要] Autoradiographsweremadeofsectionsoftheduodenalregionoftheintestinefrom3stagesofpreweaningmice,sacrificedatintervalsafterinjectionofthymidine-3H.Theresultsclearlyshowthatsignificantcellmigrationdoesoccurintheintestinalepitheliumoftheduodenumatstageswhendramaticcytodifferentiativechangesaretakingplaceinthistissue.Therateofepithelialcellmigration(intermsofdistance,inμ-traveledin48hours)is,inallofthe3preweaningstagesexamined,lowerthanintheadultduodenum.Althoughthevillielongate,reachingalengthequivalenttothatofadultvilliby20–24daysafterbirth.therateofepithelialcellmigrationdoesnotincreaseduringthepreweaningperiod.Asthevillilengthen,thetimerequiredforacelltomigratefromtheintestinalcrypttothevillustipbecomesincreasinglygreater.Theobservationsinthisstudytendtosupporttheideathattheprocessofvilluselongationpriortoweaningisregulatedinthemouseduodenumbyvariationoftherateofcellextrusionfromthevillustip.
