Growth and glycine incorporation in chick embryo explants☆
[摘要] 1.1.TheeffectsofseveralnaturalandsyntheticnutrientmediaweretestedontheDNAandprotein-glycinecontentsof11–13-somitechickembryosexplanted8or24hours.2.2.Markedincreasesinbothsubstanceswereobtainedwithexplantsonmediacontainingthenaturaleggnutrient.Explantsincludingmoreextensiveareasoftheextraembryonicmembranesshowedlargerincreasesonsuchmediathanexplantswithsmallerextraembryonicmembranes.3.3.Aglucose-containingmediumpromotedalargeincreaseinDNAandasmallincreaseinprotein-glycineonlyinexplantswithlargeextraembryonicmembranes.Othersyntheticmediahadnoeffectontheprotein-glycinecontentandpromotedonlyasmallincreaseinDNA.4.4.Underexplantationconditions,withrapidlyincreasingprotein-glycinecontents,incorporationofglycine-1-C11ledtoasmallincreaseinthespecificactivitiesoftheprotein-glycineorprotein-nitrogen.Underconditionsofslowgrowth,amuchgreaterincreaseinthespecificactivitieswasfoundtooccur.Thisisinterpretedtoindicateutilizationofdifferenttypesofprecursorsforproteinformationunderconditionsofrapidandslowgrowth.
