Fates of the blastomeres of the 16-cell stage Xenopus embryo☆
[摘要] Thefateoftheblastomeresinthe16-cellstageXenopusembryowhichhadbeencarefullyselectedforstereotypiccleavageswasdeterminedbyintracellularlymarkingasingleblastomerewithhorseradishperoxidaseandidentifyingthelabeledprogenyinthetailbudembryobyhistochemistry.Eachblastomerepopulatedallthreeprimarygermlayers.Theprogenyofeachblastomereweredistributedcharacteristicallybothinphenotypeandinlocation.Forexample,mostorganswerepopulatedbythedescendantsofparticularsetsofblastomeres.Furthermore,withinanorgantheprogenyofasingleblastomerewererestrictedtodefinedspatialaddresses.Thisstudydescribesthefatesofidentified16-cellstageblastomeresanddemonstratesthattheyaredistinctandpredictableifembryosarepreselectedforstereotypiccleavages.
